12/3/2009 : Rep. Rollo, Kulju Honored by NHDP
Rep. Mike Rollo of Rollinsford and activist Dave Kuljo of Rochester were honored by the New Hampshire Democratic Party at the party’s annual Jefferson-Jackson Dinner in Manchester Dec. 2. Rollo, chair of the House State-Federal Relations and Veterans Affairs Committee, received the party’s annual Franklin D. Roosevelt Award for his leadership and courage during the contentious hearings on HCR6, the "secession bill" proposed by right wing extremists who claimed the state could be exempt from federal laws. Rollo and his committee colleagues endured insults and physical threats as they rejected this blatantly un-American attack on all our rights. Kulju was presented with the NHDP Grassroots Activist of the Year award for Strafford County in recognition of his work on behalf of Democratic candidates and causes. Kulju played a key role in the campaign to elect Carol Shea-Porter campaign and is active in party activities both in Rochester and countywide as a member of the city and county committees. The awards were presented at the Center of New Hampshire in Manchester where 1,000 Democrats from across the state gathered for the annual J-J Dinner. Former president Bill Clinton was the keynote speaker, exhorting the party to keep working to solve the problems facing the country.
